Good Old Frankie Liriano
So Francisco "Frankie" Liriano broke out of sucking so far all season and pitched the first no-hitter of 2011. Good for him, seriously. No, it didn't look very good at all, since Liriano gave up six walks and only struck out two, especially against the White Sox, a team that seems to have forgotten how to hit but a no-hitter is a no-hitter. He's the first Twin to throw a no-hitter since Eric Milton (who?) threw one in 1999. Do the Yankees feel dumb for not signing him now? Of course not. Bartolo Colon has given up on his prodigious eating to start pitching really well. It' probably won't last though, and odds are the Yanks are going to wind up getting Liriano, unless Felix Hernandez comes at a cheap enough price (and hey, he's on the Mariners, so there's a good chance he will). Congratulations to you, Francisco Liriano, now go back to toiling in mediocrity!
